Land the ultimate hedge?

What do Ted Turner, Jim Rogers and T. Boone Pickens all have in common?
They are all taking the opportunity to buy land at depressed prices.
Each has different reasons, but the bottom line is some of the savviest investors in the world are signaling the bottom is in for land.

Some of their stated reasons for land acquisition:
- It is an outstanding hedge against inflation.
- While Gold is considered a safe haven asset, it does not have return potential whereas land can produce food, timber, water, minerals, recreation...ect.
- They don't make anymore of it.

As Warren Buffet said “Be cautious when others are greedy, and greedy when others are cautious.” That may be the ultimate contrary advice of all.
